Lena Shelton
Global Board Affairs
Lena oversees the management of WRI's Global Board of Directors, including the execution of Global Board and Board Committee meetings and the strategic engagement of Global Board members in efforts to advance WRI's mission. Lena also leads implementation of global governance initiatives to support the organization’s commitment to governance excellence and enable strong and shared governance standards across WRI's global network.
Lena has held positions in all levels of government and has extensive experience providing complex legislative and administrative support to executives, elected officials, and governing bodies. Prior to joining WRI, Lena worked in the office of US Representative Earl Blumenauer and served as Deputy Clerk to the Board of Directors of the Fort Ord Reuse Authority, a large-scale regional military base reuse program in Monterey, California.
Lena received her Masters of Professional Studies in Political Management from The George Washington University and lives in North Carolina with her husband, daughter and great dane.
