Kenneth Mwangi is the Regional Lead for Sustainable Improvement of Food Productivity for Africa’s food program, where he develops research strategies to address food security, regenerative agriculture and restoration of crop areas in Africa.

Prior to joining WRI, Kenneth worked as Project Lead and Early Warning Expert leading the formation of the IGAD Transboundary Pest Platform and supporting the development of geo-information tools for Agriculture and Environmental Monitoring at the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre. Kenneth has also worked with NASA Harvest offering operation and project management support in developing and testing innovations for field-level crop monitoring in East Africa.

Kenneth holds a Master of Science in Geospatial Information Systems and Remote Sensing from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He offers technical support to Group on Earth Observations – Climate Change Working Group, GEOGLAM Crop Monitoring for Early Warning and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Africa Bureau Technical Advisory Group for Kenya.
