Karaya Karugu
Enterprise Manager, AFR100
Karaya Karugu is the Enterprise Manager, AFR100, Global Restoration Initiative, managing the implementation of the cohort of Agriculture and Forestry SMEs that have received funding and capacity training to restore land across Africa through TerraFund for AFR100.
Previously, Karaya worked as a Portfolio Manager in the EU funded AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund, working to resource small and medium-sized enterprises focused on integrating smallholder farmers/pastoralists into inclusive value chains, job creation and promoting climate smart agriculture. He also has a background in Monitoring & Evaluation, and experience working with both private sector and development organizations. Karaya holds an undergraduate degree in Economics & Organizational Psychology from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s in Business Administration from Strathmore Business School.
Karaya loves reading, specific interests being history, sports, human behavior and business. He also loves being surrounded by greenery and thus enjoys spending time outdoors.
