Justin Murhula Nkumbarhi joined World Resources Institute in May 2024 as the Field Coordinator/Focal Point for the Lake Kivu & Rusizi River Basin Landscape Restoration DRC project under the Restore Local program. Based in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo, Justin brings over 5 years of experience in supporting agricultural and environmental value chains.
Before joining WRI, Justin worked as an expert on the development of agricultural cooperatives and value chains with AGRITERRA, a Dutch organization. He has also served as an independent consultant for various international and national firms, providing expertise in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
Justin holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. He is passionate about promoting local development through sustainable agriculture and is an activist, independent environmental journalist, and researcher focused on livelihoods and the green economy. His commitment to environmental sustainability and community development drives his work on landscape restoration in the Lake Kivu and Rusizi River basin.
