John joined World Resources Institute in October 2024 as Climate, Economics, and Finance Director for Africa, where he leads a dynamic team of experts across Kenya, Ethiopia, DRC, and Rwanda. With over 20 years of experience, John is a seasoned environmental economist specializing in climate finance, green economic transition, policy analysis, and investment operations. His expertise spans various sectors, including climate resilience, economics and business issues related to climate finance, and green economy solutions.

Before joining WRI Africa, John worked as a Senior Climate Finance Specialist at the World Bank Group, where he gained a deep understanding of climate finance and was instrumental in implementing climate-resilient approaches within the Bank’s investment projects. His work also involved economic modeling and the application of analytics to climate-related initiatives.

John has previously served as Head of the Economic Cluster in the Office of the Prime Minister of Rwanda, focusing on economic policy and institutional reforms. He has also worked with the Rwanda Revenue Authority under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

Passionate about fostering climate-resilient investments, John is committed to creating business linkages that promote climate adaptation and mitigation efforts across Africa and globally. He is dedicated to delivering sustainable solutions for people, nature, and climate.
