Gizem Senturk
Digital Communications Specialist
Gizem Şentürk is a digital communications specialist at WRI’s global communications team. Their responsibilities range from creating social media campaigns to implementing communications strategies and supporting WRI’s digital presence.
Before joining the global team, Gizem worked with WRI’s Europe office in the Hague, setting up a social media strategy for WRI’s work in and from Europe. Prior to their role at WRI Europe, they worked at UN Women’s Europe and Central Asia Regional Office as a social media specialist where they amplified feminist voices across the region, covering 14 countries and various programs.
Gizem finished a double major program at Koç University in Istanbul, where they obtained BAs in Comparative Literature and Media & Visual Arts. They also completed a research master's in Environmental Humanities at VU Amsterdam and studied at the Master Institute of Visual Arts in the Netherlands. Their academic work on queer ecology was published on Women's Studies Quarterly. They occasionally give lectures on the same topic.
In their free time, they’re mostly playing video games, visiting art exhibitions or crafting. They live in Utrecht, the Netherlands with their partner and two cats.
