Gautam Mathur is a remote sensing intern at the Global Restoration Initiative with WRI's forests team, who develop annual data on tree cover change. He contributes to the development, testing and communication of remote sensing models for tree monitoring.

Gautam is currently a graduate student at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, where he specializes in Geospatial Data Science. He is interested in using remote sensing and geospatial data to track the health and use of natural resources.

He studied Environmental Science and Management at UC Davis, where he specialized in Natural Resource Management and GIS. He then worked at Land IQ LLC in Sacramento, CA, where he participated in crop mapping projects based in the western United States.
