David Mole
Director, Foundation Relations, Europe

David joins WRI as Director of Foundation Relations in 2025.
For the last twenty years, David has forged high-value partnerships with foundations, governments, corporates, donor advisories and individual philanthropists to advance social causes.
Prior to joining WRI, David was Executive Director of Development at the Climate Group – responsible for global income generation and fundraising strategy. Whilst at the Climate Group he helped grow the organization from $4m to $22m turnover annually. He developed funding partnerships to launch world-leading programs including RE100, EV100, SteelZero and the Under2 Coalition, and to grow Climate Week NYC into the largest annual climate event of its kind. Earlier in his career, David worked in fundraising for medical research, as well as in the wine trade and as a copywriter.
David is the director of a fundraising strategy consultancy and is a Trustee of SPANA - the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad.
He holds dual Master’s degrees in Social Anthropology and in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
David enjoys running, cycling, being a loving dog/cat parent, playing blues guitar, cooking, calligraphy, theatre, live music and sport of all kinds, and collecting Japanese woodblock prints.
Fun Fact: David officiated the marriage of two complete strangers at the top of the Las Vegas Eiffel Tower at 4am.
