Darla van Hoorn is the Media Relations Manager for World Resources Institute. Her role is central to shaping and executing WRI’s media strategy, maintaining relationships with key journalists, and elevating WRI’s profile in the international media landscape.

Prior to joining WRI, she led global media relations at the Rainforest Alliance, where she developed strategic media plans and thought leadership to amplify the organization’s impact on forests, climate, agriculture and rural livelihoods across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Her career began in public relations agencies, primarily working with the private sector, and later transitioned to freelance work. In this capacity, she drove B2B and consumer PR campaigns for businesses, governments, and NGOs, focusing on advancing their missions to address pressing social and environmental challenges worldwide.

Darla lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In her downtime, she can be found tending her veggie garden, trying out new recipes, or listening to desert blues music. She is also on a quest to master Spanish.
