Christian Madera is the Global Director for Digital Communications at WRI, and leads a high-caliber team of developers, project managers, marketers and content specialists responsible for managing the Institute’s online presence around the world.

Prior to joining WRI, Christian held a variety of communications, digital and policy-related roles across the private, public and non-profit sectors. Most recently, he spent four years working in Singapore as the regional head of communications and digital marketing for BASF Agricultural Solutions, following a three year stint in Hong Kong as part of BASF's corporate communications team in Asia Pacific. He also served as New Media Manager for the National Capital Planning Commission in Washington, DC and Managing Editor for Planetizen, a online news and information platform for the urban planning community. Earlier in his career, he worked as a program manager for a Los Angeles-based non-profit housing and policy organization, and a program manager for a Beijing-based non-profit organization focused on urbanization. 

Christian holds a Master's in Public Affairs from Princeton University, and a Bachelor's in Urban Planning and Development from the University of Southern California. He lives with his wife and two children outside New York City, and enjoys cooking, traveling, playing tennis, and gardening.
