Ms. Bernadette Muteteri is the Fund Manager for the Enabling a Locally Led Circular Economy for Food Systems Transition. She oversees the Activity Managers and is accountable for the Fund’s end-to-end daily operations by ensuring funds are well administered and that partners are fully informed of relevant compliance regulations and WRI procedures.

Bernadette has over 15 years of professional experience in funds/ grants, contract administration, and project management. Prior to joining WRI, Bernadette worked in various international development organizations on donor-funded programs/projects primarily funded by USAID and FCDO/DFID. She worked on various programs managed by Palladium International Ltd in different regions as; Grants and TA Manager for Ghana JET Program, Grants and Operations Manager for IMPACT Program - Global, and Partnership Funds Manager for RMDCSSP/Ikiraro-Rwanda. Previously, Bernadette was Grants Manager for Mott McDonald (ICDF Program-Rwanda), Director of Grants and HR specialist for Urban Institute (SCPR Program-Rwanda), Grants Coordinator, and Gender Focal Point for ACDI-VOCA (Monetization Program –Rwanda), among others.

In addition to her grants/funds and project management skills, Bernadette is also experienced in research, gender development & social inclusion. Until recently, she was an independent consultant attached to the High Lands Centre of Leadership for Development (HLC-L4D) as a research fellow and gender and inclusion expert.

Bernadette holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the National University of Rwanda (currently the University of Rwanda) and a Master’s Degree of Social Sciences in Gender and Development from the University of Rwanda.

She is a friendly person, passionate about serving others. In her free time, Bernadette listens to gospel music and reads motivational books.
