Akansha Saklani
Data, AI and India Lead, Energy Access Explorer
Akansha oversees Global AI and Data Integrity for the Energy Access Explorer (EAE), a recognized Digital Public Good that serves as WRI's data-driven foundation for universal energy access. As the India Lead for EAE, she drives the platform's strategic expansion and implementation across Indian geographies.
With over a decade of experience in geospatial analysis and data visualization, Akansha focuses on leveraging high-quality data to drive equitable energy transitions. Beyond her work on EAE, she led the development of a specialized tool to model the impact of Electric Vehicles (EVs) on the power grid, facilitating a data-backed shift toward fossil-free e-mobility.
Prior to joining WRI, Akansha applied her expertise to the Health Finance and Governance sector, using geographical mapping to optimize public health delivery. She also contributed to Smart City initiatives, leading the 3D-mapping of urban slums to design sustainable housing solutions integrated with renewable energy systems.
Akansha holds a Master’s degree in Geoinformatics from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), part of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). An avid reader and traveler, she enjoys exploring new cultures and landscapes in her personal time.
