NEW YORK (April 5, 2019)—World Resources Institute is celebrating urban transformation at its Courage to Lead Dinner on April 10 at The Shed, the new arts and culture venue at Hudson Yards in New York City. Renowned real estate developer and philanthropist Stephen M. Ross will announce the first-ever winner of the WRI Ross Prize for Cities, chosen from among 200 projects transforming cities around the globe.
CNN’s Emmy award-winning Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta will emcee an evening featuring Elizabeth Diller, Founding Partner of Diller Scofidio + Renfro; Dan Doctoroff, Chairman and CEO of Sidewalk Labs; Frannie Léautier, COO, Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Development Bank; James A. Harmon, Chairman, Caravel Management LLC and Chairman, WRI Board of Directors; Ann Rosenberg, Senior VP & Global Head, SAP Next-Gen; Jennifer Scully-Lerner, VP of Private Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs; Andrew Steer, President and CEO, World Resources Institute; Steve Strongin, Head of Global Investment Research, Goldman Sachs; and Stuart Wood, Group Leader, Heatherwick Studio.
In addition to awarding the WRI Ross Prize for Cities, the evening will feature a lively conversation on reimaging cities and a tribute to Hudson Yards. Guests are also invited to join a post-dinner walk on Vessel, the Thomas Heatherwick-designed interactive sculpture.
WRI’s Courage to Lead events honor leaders and organizations that share WRI’s dedication to tackling today’s urgent global environment and economic development challenges. The dinner will raise funds to advance WRI’s mission of turning big ideas into action on climate change, energy, food, forests, water and sustainable cities.
