More details

Joining the Blue NDC Challenge means countries have or plan to, include ocean-based climate solutions in their upcoming NDC, supplementing documentation, or as part of implementation plans for a sector-based or economy-wide NDC.

Depending on their national context, countries can, for instance, include:

  • phasing out offshore oil and gas production (e.g., legal ban),
  • scaling up responsible marine renewable energy (e.g., offshore wind energy,
  • incentivizing innovative technology and technology transfer),
  • decarbonizing and adapting maritime industries (e.g., shipping, value and supply chains of aquatic food production), or
  • fostering sustainable, climate-resilient fisheries and aquaculture (e.g., ecosystem-based fisheries management, integrated risk management).

Speakers:

  • Ana Toni, CEO of COP30
