The need for high-voltage transmission in the U.S. has never been more acute. In a time of historic load growth, new transmission will be needed to lower consumer energy bills, bring more clean energy online, and make the grid reliable in the face of climate change and other challenges.

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)'s Order 1920 aims to get more high-voltage transmission built by requiring regional long-term transmission planning. As part of this planning, transmission providers are now required to integrate local laws and regulations that affect regional resource mix, demand, decarbonization, and electrification. This means local governments have never been more empowered to affect how transmission is planned and built.

Join this webinar hosted by WRI to learn about transmission issues, Order 1920 and its implications, and relevant engagement opportunities for local governments.
