To mark the launch of their latest report, Achieving Zero-Carbon Buildings: Electric, Efficient and Flexible, the Energy Transitions Commission (ETC) is hosting a webinar. In this panel, you’ll hear global leaders in energy, technology, engineering and policy discuss the cross-sector action needed to accelerate progress in decarbonizing both new and existing global buildings.

Specifically, panelists will be discussing:

  • What is needed to tip the dial this decade on the electrification of building heating and uptake of low-cost insulation?
  • How can electrified buildings be an asset within a clean energy system?
  • How can we meet rising demand for cooling with efficient air conditioning and better building design?
  • What is the opportunity to reduce the carbon from new construction through material decarbonization and building differently?

The ETC’s new report draws a complete picture of the buildings sector’s emissions and energy use and describes how a combination of electric, efficient and flexible solutions can decarbonize buildings, improve standards of living and reduce energy bills if supported by ambitious policy.

Speakers include:

  • Lord Adair Turner, Chair of ETC
  • Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy
  • Dervilla Mitchell, Director of Arup
  • Stephen Richardson, Senior Impact Director at the World Green Building Council (WGBC)
  • Roxana Slavcheva, Global Lead for Built Environment at WRI
  • Vincent Minier, VP of Energy Transition Research at Schneider Electric
