Peripheries and Climate Justice: Challenges and Innovations

This roundtable aims to reflect on emerging challenges and innovations in policies for resilience, adaptation, and climate justice in peripheral territories and urban communities. It will address successful experiences currently underway, such as the Periferia Viva Program for the comprehensive urbanization of slums and the Periferia Sem Risco Strategy, developed by the Brazilian Ministry of Cities, and the Affordable Housing Program, carried out by the Kenyan Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development. The panel will also include representatives from UN-Habitat, WRI and Sebrae, who will share strategies and experiences of inclusive climate adaptation prioritizing peripheral communities.
