A talk-show style event exploring the topic of ocean-based solutions, including the role the ocean can play in tackling climate change, protect our precious biodiversity, and boost our economy.

Ready-to-implement ocean solutions could close the emissions gap in 2050 by up to 35 percent on a 1.5°C pathway. They not only align with the Paris Agreement and the Global Biodiversity Framework but also serve as a vital link between the Climate and Biodiversity Conventions. This event will explore how these 'Ocean Breakthroughs' could be the key to a sustainable future.

WRI is a coordinating partner in this event alongside CMS, GIZ, UNESCO International Oceanographic Commission, Ocean & Climate Platform, World Economic Forum and WWF.

This event is a part of the 'Ocean as the Great Connector' day of events in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Pavilion at COP16 in Cali, Colombia.
