The heavy reliance on personal vehicle usage has had a detrimental impact on the transportation sector in Addis Ababa and other major cities of Ethiopia, leading to its significant contribution to air pollution and other adverse impacts. These issues not only harm the environment but also pose severe health and economic challenges for the people. To address this critical problem, it is imperative to modernize the transportation sector, enhance accessibility, and promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Doing so is essential for realizing both economic prosperity and social well-being for the county, the region, and the global communities.

To ensure the success of this electrification initiative and materialize the country's ambitions for a cleaner transport system, Ethiopia is actively seeking partnerships with various stakeholders. Collaboration with development partners, private sectors, and research institutes is essential for obtaining the necessary technical and financial support, as well as sharing knowledge and best practices. The aim is to build a robust network of partnerships that collectively work towards a NetZero transport system, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and reduce air pollution.
