Join the conversation: #Kigali, #urbanwaterresilience, #waterresilience and #WASH
This event will officially launch and build momentum for work in Kigali as part of the Urban Water Resilience in Africa initiative, led by WRI Africa, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and the WRI Water program, in partnership with Arup, the Resilience Shift, the Resilient Cities Network and Bantu Design. A broad range of stakeholders from the City of Kigali, the Rwandan national government, the water sector, and Rwanda-based investment groups will participate in a panel discussion on the key challenges and opportunities to building urban water resilience in Kigali. This is one of several deep engagements planned with African cities throughout the year as part of the Urban Water Resilience initiative.
City leaders will discuss opportunities for more integrated planning and investment across a range of urban water resilience issues, including water supply, storm water, wastewater, sanitation, watershed management, water source development and land development. Additionally, the Chief Resilience Officer of Cape Town will reflect on the city's Day Zero water crisis and share lessons learned and actions taken by the city to avert such future crisis. This event will set the stage for city stakeholders to further develop water resilience work in collaboration with WRI and partners.
