Over 1,000 high-level representatives from government, business, civil society and international organizations will gather in Lisbon on May 2-3, 2018 for the 4th Sustainable Energy for All Forum, themed “Leaving No One Behind.” The Forum will focus on sharing the latest evidence of scalable innovations in providing electricity access, accelerating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in all corners of the world.

WRI looks forward to attending and engaging in this year’s SEForAll Forum. Our staff will participate in the following events.

Accelerating City Action for Global Impact: Finance As a Catalyst for Transforming Ambition to Implementation

Date: Thursday, May 3, 16:00-17:30 WET

Location: Terrace

City-level action is critical for advancing sustainable development and achieving national and international climate and energy goals. This interactive session will highlight representative and replicable case studies in which cities successfully overcame barriers to finance to convert energy efficiency ambitions into real project implementation. Case studies will be drawn from two SEforALL Energy Efficiency Accelerators that work primarily at the local government level: the Building Efficiency Accelerator and the District Energy in Cities Initiative. Participants will discuss what lessons can be learned from these cases, how they can be replicated in other cities around the world and discuss pathways to set and achieve ambitious targets needed to move cities from planning and pilots to partnerships and programs as quickly as possible.
