Global Culture Advisor

This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in  the  office. You can be based in our offices in India (Mumbai / Bangalore/ Delhi). Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. 

About the Role:

We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused Global Culture Advisor to take on a new global role at WRI. As Global Culture Advisor, you’ll be part of our Centre of Excellence and help shape how we support, grow, and engage our people across the world.

Reporting to the Director of Learning, Development and Culture, you’ll work closely with HR teams across all country/regional offices   (Africa, Brazil, China, Colombia, Europe, India, Indonesia, Mexico, US) as well as  with our global HR network. Your work will help WRI become the best-run NGO in the world — not just for operational excellence, but to ensure every employee has a great experience and can do their best work in service of our mission.

You’ll also help build People team capacity globally, creating more consistency and connection across our network.

Job Highlights:

WRI is seeking a Global Culture Advisor to build the culture function within the People Team. The role will be responsible for translating refreshed organizational values and behaviours into lived experiences across the OneWRI Network and ensuring they are embedded into policies, processes, leadership practices, and the employee lifecycle.

This role requires working across teams, geographies, and leadership, establishing long-term culture roadmaps, and ensuring strong coordination with HR Centers of Excellence and the DEI team. The Culture Advisor will also work closely with Country HR teams and Country Directors to ensure a globally aligned approach with meaningful local integration.

You will work with a diverse, cross-functional team and report directly to the Director – Culture, Learning & Development.

What you’ll do:

Engagement – 40%

  • Partner with Country HR teams and Country Directors to ensure a globally aligned yet locally relevant approach to culture implementation.

  • Facilitate organization-wide dialogues and forums to deepen understanding and shared ownership of WRI’s values and behaviors.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure culture priorities are understood, embraced, and consistently reinforced across teams and regions.

  • Design and deliver leadership engagement approaches that support leaders to lead on, connect with, adopt, and demonstrate organizational values

  • Work closely with senior leaders to support them to lead out on our culture work, embedding culture through championing culture work, leadership behaviors, decision-making, and day-to-day practices.

  • Lead a Global Culture Ambassadors program, with representatives from each country and region, enabling local ownership, feedback, and implementation.

  • Lead our wellbeing work to support leaders, managers and staff to have a healthy balance and to enable them to do their best work while at WRI.

  • Engage external consultants for short- and medium-term assignments to support culture diagnostics, design, and analysis.

Delivery – 40%

  • Establish the culture function, defining how culture work unfolds and matures over the coming years.

  • Coordinate closely with HR Center of Excellence to ensure values and behaviors are embedded into:

    • Induction and onboarding

    • Learning and leadership development

    • Performance management

    • Promotions and career pathways

    • Our Safe, Equitable, Inclusive Workplace (SEIW) policy and process

    • HR policies, processes, and people practices

  • Develop practical tools, guidance, and resources to support consistent implementation of culture initiatives across global offices such as leading the implementation and ongoing use of a Culture Barometer to identify strengths, gaps, and areas requiring focused intervention.

  • Ensure clear accountability, and reporting mechanisms are in place to monitor and sustain progress against culture priorities and organizational maturity.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director – Learning & Development & Culture and People Team leadership.

Strategy – 20%

  • Work alongside the Director – Learning & Development & Culture and People Team leadership to develop a multi-year culture strategy and roadmap, that defines the business case for WRI to invest in and champion our culture work, defining short-, medium-, and long-term actions for embedding refreshed values and behaviors across the organization.

  • Define and clearly articulate what a healthy workplace culture looks like, explain why it matters to organizational success, and outline how we evaluate and track it using our Culture Barometer.

What Will You Need:

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Human Resources/ Organizational Development/ Psychology/ Social Sciences/ Management, or related fields.

Experience:

  • 10 + years of relevant experience in culture transformation, organizational development, people strategy, or related fields.

  • Experience working in complex, high-matrixed multi-country organizations

  • Experience implementing DEI and culture in a global organization across multiple countries

  • Experience managing multiple external and internal partners and working with cross cultural complexities

  • Influencing senior people across the organization including working closely with senior leadership team

  • Experience developing, running surveys, capturing data and insights

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience embedding organizational values and behaviors into systems, processes, and leadership practices

  • A passion for culture work, with the ability to build a credible profile across the organization, spanning cultural differences and understanding local contexts

  • High level of emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and work cross-functionally.

  • Experience designing and using organizational diagnostics, surveys, or culture measurement tools

  • Experience managing external consultants and translating insights into practical actions

  • Strong facilitation, communication, project management and professional-quality writing skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, cultures, and geographies

  • Willingness to travel based on program and organizational needs

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is desirable

Potential Salary:

The salary range for this role in WRI India is INR 25,00,000 to 34,00,000 per annum . Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
