About the Program: 

The Digital Media Internship at World Resources Institute (WRI) Europe offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic and impact-driven communications team based in The Hague. WRI Europe is dedicated to advancing sustainable and climate solutions across Europe to create a better future for people, nature, and the planet. 

In this role, the intern will focus on digital content creation, helping elevate WRI Europe’s message through engaging and strategic social media campaigns. You will support the communications team by editing and producing short-form video content, managing assets, and amplifying our presence across social platforms. You will also help with producing and scheduling social media posts (flagship events, publications, news events) and do regular more in-depth performance analysis of posts. The intern will also assist with a special project: Communications around the 10th anniversary of WRI Europe. This is your opportunity to develop key digital communication and overall Communications skills. 

 

Internship Highlight: 

  • Develop professional social media content creating skills, from concept to post-production. 

  • Play a key role in boosting WRI Europe’s digital visibility with creative, brand-aligned video, posts and multimedia assets. 

  • Gain hands-on experience with tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, and Asana, and support content planning via editorial calendars. 

  • Build a portfolio of compelling video content, featuring stories of innovation and climate solutions from across Europe. 

  • Increase knowledge on Social Media performance analysis. 

 

What you will do: 

In this role, you will assist in producing, editing, and publishing video content as well as other social media messages with visuals across WRI Europe’s channels, highlighting stories that drive change and expand our digital reach. 

Your internship supervisor will be the Head of Communications of WRI Europe and you will work closely with the Digital Media Associate. 

Content Creation (40%) 

  • Assist in creating and editing short-form video content as well as other engaging content for WRI Europe's social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). 

  • Support filming or taking pictures and post-production for event recaps, project videos, and interviews. 

  • Explore opportunities of content formats aligned to our tone of voice. 

  • Design supporting social media assets such as thumbnails, carousels, and data visuals, ensuring brand consistency. 

Social Media Support (40%) 

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the editorial calendar to align content with key campaigns and events. 

  • Assist exploring opportunities of content aligned to WRI content strategy and content calendar. 

  • Monitor performance metrics (engagement, reach, views) and prepare reports to inform data-driven content decisions. 

  • Help grow our audience by engaging with followers, monitoring comments/messages, and supporting community-building efforts. 

Special Project: 10 years of WRI Europe (20%) 

  • Help with planning and implementing communications around one smaller and one larger event around the 10th anniversary of WRI Europe (2026) 

  • Assist with planning of video series around 10 year anniversary (10 Voices for 10 years) 

 

What you will need: 

  • Must be enrolled in a study program with a Dutch university or hogeschool for the entire duration of the internship. 

  • Educational background in communications, design, media or journalism 

  • Ample experience with video editing tools, graphic design and social media production and analytics 

  • Understanding of social media language, behavior, and practices. 

  • Proficiency in English is required, including strong writing skills; additional European language(s) are a plus. 

 

Conditions of the internship: 

  • 5-6 month internship with a start date in March 2026. 

  • This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home.  

  • This internship offers a reimbursement of 700 euros per month based on full-time working hours (32 hours per week). Upon mutual agreement, it is possible to agree on a part-time schedule of 24 to 32 hours per week.
