Financing Community-Led Forest Economies
World Resources Institute and the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC) are thrilled to invite you for an inspiring session on Financing Community-Led Forest Economies.
As we witness a growing momentum in addressing climate change and conserving biodiversity within tropical forest ecosystems, it is crucial to recognize the untapped potential of investing in economic opportunities for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs&LCs).
Traditional funding models have primarily focused on creating incentives for forest conservation on the one hand and large-scale investments on the other hand, often neglecting the financial needs of those who rely directly on the forest for their livelihoods. Yet, upscaling finance into the economies of IPs&LCs could transform the lives of over 2.4 billion people, as well as address more systematic issues at country and global levels.
Our vision is bold: we aspire to create the ecosystem for sustainable finance flows to community-led forest economies that deliver social well-being and intergenerational legacies, climate and nature benefits.
