Parveen Kumar is a Program Associate with the Food and Land Use Coalition India at the World Resources Institute India. His key responsibility is to coordinate and assist in establishing the ‘Food Systems Hub’ at the national level.

He began his professional journey as a Junior Research Fellow at PGIMER Chandigarh, focusing on the project ‘Impact of Climate Change on Air Quality’ and its effects on chronic respiratory diseases. Later, he served as a Technical Officer at the Punjab Biodiversity Board, where he was heavily involved in implementing the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 in Punjab. His responsibilities included forming Biodiversity Management Committees, compiling People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs), conducting capacity-building programs for various line departments, conducting field visits, collecting primary and secondary data, photographing local flora and fauna, facilitating stakeholder meetings, leading Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRAs), and implementing National Biodiversity Authority-funded projects.

With a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and qualifications in UGC NET, he brings five years of experience specializing in biodiversity conservation and climate change projects.
