Gabriela Viana Moreira is a Project Manager at WRI Brazil, where she leads the implementation of the GEF Restaura Biomas, an initiative focused on large-scale ecological restoration across all Brazilian biomes. Her work strengthens public policies, fosters institutional coordination, and supports pilot initiatives that integrate science, local communities, and innovation in restoration. GEF Restaura Biomas is the Brazilian component of the Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP).

Previously, she served as a Senior Technical Advisor for the German Cooperation (GIZ) with Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment, coordinating processes related to the National Biodiversity Strategy and the Global Biodiversity Framework. At WWF-Brazil, she managed the GEF Pró-Espécies project, a pioneering initiative for the conservation of threatened species, and led the evaluation of the GEF ABS Project, which advanced the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit sharing.

Her experience includes leading multidisciplinary teams, advancing women’s networks in conservation, and coordinating international exchanges involving Brazil, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Gabriela holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from UFF, a Master’s in Public Health from UERJ, and an MBA in Project Management from FGV. With more than 24 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, she is passionate about reading, cultural travel, and outdoor life, and believes in the power of collaboration to transform territories and societies.
