Arijit Pal is a Manager with the Food and Land Use Coalition India at World Resources Institute India. His primary responsibilities include leading the finalization of the FOLU India Action Agenda, conducting research and analysis for current and future initiatives, and communicating analytical reports. He is also responsible for conceptualizing and writing proposals to support prospective fundraising efforts, and maintaining continuous communication with FOLU India Partners and the FOLU Global team.

Arijit is an interdisciplinary scholar, having wide-ranging interests, mostly intertwined between ecology, evolution, conservation biology and sustainable development. Before joining FOLU, during his four years of Post-doctoral tenure, he worked as Principal Investigator and led multiple projects on biodiversity conservation. Over the last twelve years, he has been involved with and led a variety of human–environment system research and conservation projects on multiple taxa and environmental issues across the Indian subcontinent. He has successfully brought these projects to their natural conclusion with optimal impact.

Arijit received his Doctorate degree from the Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, having studied ecology and behavior of endemic Nicobar Macaques in remote Nicobar Islands. Before that, he received Masters’ degree in Conservation Biology from the University of Burdwan. Alongside receiving prestigious national and international awards and fellowships, Arijit has published several research articles in top-tier journals, earning widespread appreciations.
