In advance of the 2014 World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, the World Resources Institute analyzed the extent to which economic, social, and environmental sustainability are embedded in the design of World Bank projects.

On Thursday, April 3, 2014, WRI will launch a new report, Designed for the Future? Assessing Principles of Sustainable Development and Governance in The World Bank’s Project Plans. We found 75 percent of World Bank projects fail to consider, let alone address, risks from climate change. Even fewer projects (only 12 percent) consider the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions.

Join experts from WRI’s Sustainable Finance team who will present the report findings as well as responses from the World Bank, Center for International Environmental Law, and Center for Global Development. Reception to follow.
