Jessica Ertel
Data Scientist, Global Restoration Initiative
Jessica Ertel is a Data Scientist for the Forests Program's Global Restoration Initiative. Her work focuses on combining machine learning techniques with satellite-based remote sensing data to unlock new ways of monitoring forest and landscape restoration. She is responsible for writing, testing and documenting high quality code using various Python tools/libraries, cloud computing platforms and data engineering tools.
Jessica comes from a background in consulting across a variety of sectors, including energy, conservation and water resources. She has a self-designed B.A. in Global Environmental Affairs from Bucknell University. Jessica likes pushing the boundaries of her own thinking and learning new languages (human and computer).
