Henry Kahira is a Senior Investment Manager for Outcome-Based and Blended Finance for Restoration at the World Resources Institute (WRI), based in Nairobi.

He plays a key role in shaping and implementing innovative financial structures that mobilize capital for high-quality, locally led restoration efforts across Africa. As part of WRI’s restoration finance team, Henry helps design outcome-based and blended finance strategies—including outcome revolving funds and restoration bonds—that tie funding to measurable results such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity gains, and improved rural livelihoods. His work focuses on priority landscapes including the Lake Kivu & Rusizi River Basin, the Greater Rift Valley, and the Ghana Cocoa Belt.

Henry brings over 12 years of experience in impact finance, investment structuring, and sustainable development. Prior to joining WRI, he served as Impact Finance Manager at Rabo Foundation—the impact investing arm of Rabobank, a global leader in food and agriculture finance. There, he led investment origination, due diligence, and portfolio management for agri-SMEs, cooperatives, and financial institutions across East and West Africa. He also worked closely with Acorn, Rabobank’s carbon platform, to develop agroforestry projects that restored ecosystems, improved farmer incomes, and generated high-quality carbon credits, with 80% of revenues flowing directly to farmers.

Henry has co-developed blended finance structures, worked with public and private partners, and supported enterprises to become investment-ready. He is a Fellow of the Africa Food Systems Leadership Program at Wageningen University & Research and holds an MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Outside of work, Henry co-founded Royhill School in 2016—a now fully self-sustaining community-based school in Nairobi offering quality, values-driven education. He is passionate about mentorship, education, fitness, and early morning golf rounds.
