Abigail Frankfort
Aquatic Food Lead

Abigail Frankfort is the Aquatic Food Lead at the World Resources Institute. She works as part of a global team advancing sustainable aquatic food systems, with a special focus on reducing aquatic food loss and waste.
Abigail was part of the Ocean Action Agenda, an initiative coordinated by WRI and the World Economic Forum, helping shape its aquatic food components and bringing them to implementation in multiple global contexts.
She leads projects across diverse thematic areas including consumer diets, sustainable procurement, small-scale fishing and aquaculture, and mainstreaming gender in aquatic food systems. Her current work builds on the successful Seafood Loss and Waste project piloted in Namibia, and she continues to champion evidence-based approaches to systemic change.
With a Master’s in Environment and Development and a specialization in Sustainable Food Systems, Abigail brings cross-sectoral experience from both the private and public sectors, where she worked across the ESG spectrum to help clients achieve social and environmental impact. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Bristol and is passionate about leveraging nature-based solutions to enhance collaboration, innovation, and data-driven policy in the aquatic food sector.
