Marissa Mejia
Communications Specialist, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities

Marissa Mejia is a Communications Specialist for WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. She leads creative, data-driven social media campaigns that advance WRI Ross Center’s mission and develops strategies to strengthen engagement with key stakeholders and influencers across all @WRIRossCities social media channels.
Before joining WRI, Marissa designed digital advocacy campaigns for environmental organizations around the world through collaborating with Indigenous conservationists in the Philippines and Hawai’i, environmental educators serving low-income students in New York, international wildlife advocates in Viet Nam, and sustainability professionals in New Jersey. While an undergraduate, she served as a founding member of Princeton University's Office of Sustainability's Social Media Team and conducted independent research on how social norm theories can optimize campaigns promoting pro-environmental behavior and sustainable decision-making. Most recently, Marissa received the inaugural Princeton ReachOut Paschen Fellowship for public service, which enabled her to reconnect with her heritage by traveling to the Philippines. There, she co-directed, filmed, and edited HASIK, an award-winning feature documentary that amplifies the stories of seed-saving farmers across the country.
Marissa holds a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University. She lives in Washington, D.C., and in her free time, Marissa enjoys dancing, surfing, thrifting, and filmmaking.
