Carrick Reddin
Director, Community-Centered Solutions and Strategic Initiatives
Carrick Reddin is Director, Community-Centered Solutions and Strategic Initiatives at the World Resources Institute. His work is grounded in the belief that sustainable development must be rooted in a fundamental shift in power, value, and systems — toward economies and systems that recognize the true value of nature, center the leadership of communities, and enable people, nature, and climate to thrive together. Carrick focuses on advancing approaches that move beyond extractive models toward more equitable, regenerative, and community-led pathways for development and restoration.
In this role, Carrick works at the intersection of forest restoration, community-led development, and global climate agendas, advancing WRI's work across strategic initiatives including Community-Led Forest Economies and the New Restoration Economy. He leads and supports multi-country projects, working with governments, Indigenous and community leaders, NGOs, and funders to translate community-led approaches into concrete pathways for policy, finance, and implementation. At WRI, he also works to bring culture, values, and the arts into this work as tools for shifting narratives and unlocking change.
Prior to joining WRI, Carrick was a Senior Policy Fellow at Georgetown University’s Environmental Justice Program, where he led research on climate-resilient sustainable development in partnership with the Government of Mongolia. He has also worked with AREP’s global urban planning practice, Rise Community Development, and the Children and Youth Constituency for Sustainable Communities.
Carrick holds a master’s degree from the Urban School at l’Institut d'études politiques de Paris and a bachelor’s degree in architecture and international development from Washington University in St. Louis. He is the co-founder of Climate Futures Studio, a fellowship that supports emerging artists and storytellers from frontline communities to imagine just and regenerative climate futures. His work at the intersection of culture, art, and environmental action has been featured by the World Economic Forum, the American Institute of Architects, UN-Habitat, and Next City.
