Science-Based Targets for Faith: Advancing a Global Standard for Faith-based Organizations To Measure, Manage, and Report Greenhouse Gas Emissions
‘Science-based targets’ are emissions reduction targets set by organizations that are in line with the science-derived goals of the Paris Agreement. This session will introduce the key concepts of ‘Science-based Targets’ and their possible applications to faith-based organizations. It will also present a guidance document for faith-based organizations (FBOs) and showcase examples where FBOs have successfully implemented Science-based Targets methodologies for climate mitigation. The session hopes to advance understanding and spur a discussion with audience about the main challenges and opportunities for FBOs to engage on climate mitigation efforts through the assets they own or control.
