As large buyers of energy, implementers of local climate solutions, and vital intermediaries interface between stakeholder groups, local governments have a big role to play in shaping the future of energy in their communities. Many of the goals cities are working toward are directly impacted by decisions made by utilities and state regulators about how energy is generated and delivered. Too often, though, local governments may be left out of critical decisions made by utilities and public utility commissions (PUCs) that impact their ability to provide affordable, reliable, and clean energy to their communities.

Join World Resources Institute on October 7 from 3:00-4:00 pm ET for Power Moves: Local Government Strategy for Utility & PUC Collaboration, which will feature a discussion on how cities can effectively build an internal strategy for engaging with their utility and PUC. This webinar will present a framework for building internal strategy with actionable takeaways and highlight stories from cities that have used a similar approach, offering real-life examples and lessons learned. Webinar participants can expect to increase their knowledge of how to identify utility and PUC engagement opportunities, how to evaluate alignment with city goals and priorities, and how to generate buy-in from stakeholders to engage. Whether your city is just starting to think about engaging or looking for ideas to build on, you’ll leave with concrete next steps and the confidence to take action.

This webinar is the 2nd in our series on local governments' influence on energy system decision making; watch the first session here.
