Alison Cinnamond is Head of Communications for the World Resources Institute, currently serving in an acting role. She leads institutional communications and supports WRI’s global communications function, shaping organization-wide positioning, strategic influence and communications strategy.

At WRI, Alison focuses on how strategic communications can strengthen the organization’s influence and ensure its research and expertise reach and resonate with the decision-makers and audiences who can drive change. She helps shape WRI’s institutional narratives and positioning, advises senior leaders on reputation and crisis response and is advancing how WRI responds to a rapidly changing information environment—including how AI is transforming the way people discover, assess and use evidence.

Prior to WRI, Alison worked across global nonprofits and the private sector, leading cross-border communications campaigns and advising senior leaders and policymakers. Her career has taken her across South Africa, the United States, Switzerland, Vietnam, China, Japan, Bangladesh and Qatar, where she has led major media campaigns and worked with policymakers at the highest levels. She is a published author and an accomplished writer whose work has been featured in leading publications around the world.

Alison lives in Bethesda, MD with her husband Don, their two children, Bailey and Calla, and their dogs, Mimi and Luna.
