Diego Merizalde leads the Latin America Clean Energy Coalition (LACEC), which accelerates the corporate clean energy market in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico by bringing together corporate buyers, developers, financiers, and decision-makers to develop viable business models, shape enabling regulatory frameworks, and connect actors and best practices across countries. This work helps the private sector meet its decarbonization goals while strengthening Latin America's industrial competitiveness through abundant, clean, and secure energy.

Before joining WRI Colombia, Diego served as a public policy advisor at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in the United States, contributing to strategic initiatives for clean energy deployment. His earlier career spanned both public and private sectors: he advised a presidential campaign in Colombia on public policy, directed a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded program to invest in and develop Colombia's national network of 1,200 public libraries, and worked as a consultant to Deloitte's electric power and utilities practice.

Diego holds a degree in Business Administration from the Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración (CESA), a master's degree in Public Administration from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Sciences Po in Paris and is an alumnus of Yale University's Financing and Deploying Clean Energy program.
