Effective Government Strategies to Finance the Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions
The last COP came with a wave of climate pledges. Without the necessary finance these NDCs have little hope of being fully realized. As countries strive to make good on their promises we must turn our attention to the developing world, where action is urgently needed and securing funds requires exploring all available options.
Join World Resources Institute and Chile's Ministry of Finance at the COP27 Chilean Pavilion on November 9th as we dive into how governments can finance their NDCs. The side-event will include a kick-off presentation led by WRI Director of Climate Finance Access and Deployment Gaia Larsen to launch the report "Paying for the Paris Agreement: A Primer on Government Options for Financing Nationally Determined Contributions", followed by a panel with Chile, the Fijian Ministry of Economy, and Chile’s Corporate Leaders Group for Climate Change, and NDCP, to discuss the challenges of climate finance planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Speakers:
- Carola Moreno, Chile's Ministry of Finance
- Prelish Var, Fiji's Ministry of Finance
- Teresa Ruiz-Tagle, CLG Chile
- Amanda McKee, NDCP
- Natalia Alayza, World Resources Institute (Moderator)
