Varun is a Project Associate with the Climate Program at WRI India, where his primary responsibility is contributing to the organization’s research on carbon markets.

He comes to WRI with experience in the areas of climate policy, greenhouse gas inventory and reporting programs and low-carbon development strategies for various sectors of the industry. He also has some experience in environmental regulatory compliance and techno-economic environmental modeling.

Varun holds a master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resource Management from the University of Freiberg, Germany, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Pune, India.

He resides in Mumbai and enjoys backpacking, cooking and blues music.
