Sumaya Ali is a Learning and Development intern in the Research, Data, and Impact team. In this role, she will be working with staff to create and refine course content and curriculum, coordinate staff training opportunities, research software for staff use, and design a rollout plan for new courses.

Previously, Sumaya worked as an early learning program coordinator at a nonprofit, where she developed training and onboarding resources for early learning staff.

Sumaya received her BA in Education and English from the University of Washington in Seattle. Currently, she is a graduate student in Boise State University’s Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning program, where she works as a research assistant in the university’s Learning Strategy Lab.

The lab explores the intersection of neuroscience, adult cognition, and leader development to optimize expertise and performance within organizations. Sumaya also volunteers as a student editor for JoNI (the Journal of Nonprofit Innovation).

She calls her native Somalia and now Seattle home.
