Parul is the Lead Researcher at the Economics Centre, WRI India; where she is primarily working towards exploring agroecological approaches, nature-based solutions and sustainable means for improving rural livelihoods.

She has over a decade of experience in multi-disciplinary, cross-sectoral market and socio-economic research as well as monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of development programs. She started her career with Kantar Group, and worked across leading market research firms, handling key accounts. She also brings work experience from the development sectors including livelihoods, agriculture, health, education and infrastructure. Prior to joining WRI, she was managing Department of Biotechnology’s Farmer Zone initiative at Iora Ecological Solutions, besides working on other agri-related projects.

She is currently pursuing a PhD from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. Her research interests include exploring sustainable agriculture solutions, valuation and enhancement of ecosystem services, technology adoption by rural population, improving market linkages for farmers and incentive-based mechanisms.

In her idle time, Parul loves exploring places, local culture and cuisine through road trips. Recently, she is exploring her new-found interest in western vocal music.
