Mercy Mulanga is the Gender and Social Equity Associate at the Restore Local Program. She works with a diverse team of restoration, food, water and policy experts to mainstream gender and social equity considerations into the Restore Local projects within the Greater Rift Valley (GRV) Landscape in Kenya.

Before joining WRI, Mercy worked as the technical lead for gender transformation with Concern Worldwide Kenya, acting as the focal point for gender and equality mainstreaming, ensuring that the programs and initiatives are well-resourced for organization-wide gender transformation.

Prior to her tenure at Concern Worldwide, Mercy spent over 8 years in the humanitarian sector, where she spearheaded the design and implementation of projects aimed at refugee protection and empowerment in Kakuma, Dadaab, and urban Nairobi.

Mercy holds a master's degree in development policy and practices from the Graduate Institute of Geneva, Switzerland, and a bachelor's degree in education from Moi University, Kenya. 

Beyond her professional endeavors, Mercy enjoys spending time with her family.
