Mary Githinji is the Senior Engagement Manager - Clean Energy Transition, Africa and will be supporting the energy team to action the tools and evidence towards the development of energy transition plans, specifically through coordination and engagement with targeted institutions and government ministries/departments responsible for energy, environment and climate change.

Prior to joining WRI, Mary worked as the Policy and Advocacy Manager at the AECF responsible for advocating improvements to the enabling environment across the Renewable Energy and Climate Technologies (REACT) SSA programme in eight countries, namely: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Liberia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Somalia and Zimbabwe. She is a member of the AMREF Health Africa in Kenya Board.

Previously, she worked on two programmes at Tetra Tech International Development: the Africa Clean Energy Technical Assistance Facility (ACE TAF) as a Country Manager for Kenya and Somalia; and at the Business Advocacy Fund in Kenya as the Deputy Fund Manager and Advocacy Manager.

Mary holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Management from Northwood University in Michigan, U.S.A.

She lives in Nairobi, Kenya with her family.
