Maria is a Project Manager for the Food and Land Use Coalition based in WRI's London office.

Maria has over six years of experience leading multi-stakeholder initiatives and a background in international development, climate change and sustainable land management.

As Senior Manager of EP100 at the Climate Group, she led a campaign to drive smart energy use and accelerate decarbonisation in the private sector. She was responsible for strategy, impact, partnerships, and leading meaningful member engagement.

Before joining the Climate Group, Maria spent five years at GrowNYC, a leading environmental NGO in New York, working to ensure the long-term viability of family farms and the protection of vital agricultural land. She developed and managed programming to address the social and environmental challenges faced by the sector, including a program to create inclusive pathways for career advancement for Spanish speaking immigrant farmworkers.

Maria holds an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development from the Bartlett School at University College London and a BA in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Middlebury College.

Originally from Colombia, Maria is fluent in Spanish and has a good command of French. She loves to collect hobbies; her most recent ventures include taking up pottery, tennis and learning to rewire her lamp!
