Juliana is a Junior Associate for Technical Assistance & Capacity Building for the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People. In this role, she supports the HAC Secretariat´s efforts to match the supply of technical assistance with HAC members which are made up of 117 countries. She also supports the demand for knowledge and capacity needed for countries to achieve the central goal of protecting at least 30 percent of the world’s land and ocean by 2030.

Her professional experience includes more than 12 years dedicated to biodiversity mainstreaming for public and private institutions and organizations at local, regional, and national levels. She was part of a team at the German Agency for International Cooperation Development – GIZ that delivered technical assistance to local and national governments for five years in several countries of Latin America. She has worked on biodiversity issues as governance, equity, and gender for non-governmental organizations such as The International Union for Conservation of Nature, The World Wildlife Fund – WWF and The World Conservation Society – WCS. She also led the development of biodiversity and ecosystem services management proposal for the city of Medellin with Parque Explora, and has done research for urban nature with the Alexander von Humboldt Research Institute in Colombia. Part of her work has been focused on protected and conserved areas, she worked at National Natural Parks of Colombia for three years. She has also supported different countries in the discussion of the Global Biodiversity Framework and has been a speaker of various subjects in international conferences.

Juliana holds a Graduate Certificate in Customer Experience from Universidad La Sabana with the best applied project and a Bachelor's Degree in Ecology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. She has published several articles and book chapters related to biodiversity conservation, urban nature and capacity building. Juliana enjoys visiting and exploring natural áreas around the world, traveling, and going to the beach.
