Joe is an Associate in WRI’s Sustainable Finance Center. His work focuses on enhancing the climate finance ambition of developed countries, supporting climate vulnerable countries in their engagement in international financial policymaking, and ensuring a just transition in the shift from fossil to clean financing.

Prior to joining WRI in 2014, Joe researched innovative approaches to climate diplomacy at Adelphi, a Berlin-based research institute. He previously worked on European Union climate and energy policy for Friends of the Earth, focusing on policies to strengthen energy efficiency and expand renewable energy. Joe also has experience working on UN arms control and nuclear non-proliferation negotiations at the Quaker UN Office in New York.

Joe holds a Master’s degree in Global Environmental Policy from American University in Washington DC, where his research focused on climate diplomacy in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UN Security Council. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from the University of York in the UK.

In his spare time, Joe enjoys road cycling.
