Jefferson is the Data Science Coordinator in the Forests, Land Use, and Agriculture Program at WRI Brasil. His work is focused on providing answers and solutions for projects related to the Program using statistical techniques, geospatial analysis and modeling, and data visualization techniques.

He is a Geographer from the Federal University of Santa Maria and has a Ph.D. in Geography from São Paulo State University (UNESP-Rio Claro). Before joining WRI Brasil, Jefferson was a Senior Researcher and leader of the Research Group on Geospatial Analysis of Amazonian Environment and Territories at Mamirauá Institute for Sustainable Development.

During his free time, Jefferson likes to study languages, music, and programming, as well as explore landscapes he's never been to, movies no one watches, and listen to metal songs.
