Howard Shih
Research Associate, Science Based Targets Initiative

Howard Shih is a Research Associate for the Science Based Targets initiative in WRI’s Business Center. He works to increase the ambition of financial institutions to set targets that lead to GHG emissions reductions in the real economy.
Prior to joining WRI, Howard worked 11+ years in the financial sector across the U.S., Europe, and Asia as a credit risk specialist. He managed portfolios in support of the corporate banking business at Bank of America and fixed-income investments at the Bank for International Settlements. He also oversaw all credit risk and compliance matters for the BIS Representative Office for Asia and the Pacific.
Howard holds a MBA from INSEAD and a BS from NYU Stern. He also holds the Sustainability & Climate Risk certificate from GARP as well as the Financial Risk Manager and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.
Originally from New York City, Howard now resides in Washington, D.C., after having also lived in Spain, Singapore, France, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and traveling.
