Emily Nilson is the Product Manager for Resource Watch, a dynamic platform that provides trusted and timely data for a sustainable future. She leads the ongoing design and development of the Resource Watch platform, prioritizing features based on extensive user research and stakeholder engagement. Emily also leads the continued development of the PREPdata platform, an initiative of the Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness aiming to make climate data more accessible.

In previous roles at WRI, Emily conducted research on corporate renewable energy procurement for WRI’s Global Energy Program and supported the implementation of the Building Efficiency Accelerator within the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. Emily joined WRI from Central European University, where she managed a project to train environmental decision-makers and international civil servants on the application of data-driven geospatial technologies and remote sensing in water management and disaster risk reduction.

Prior to that, she worked in the financial services industry as an auditor. Emily holds a joint European Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management, for which she studied at Central European University (Budapest, Hungary), Lund University (Lund, Sweden), and the University of the Aegean (Lesvos, Greece).

She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley University in Massachusetts.

Emily lives in Boulder, Colorado and spends her free time hiking, biking, seeking out wildlife and wildflowers, and exploring the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
