Dan is a clean mobility expert at WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. He works to advance the goals of clean transit coalitions by deploying zero-emission mobility technologies in leading cities across the globe.

Dan has worked on clean transportation matters over the past decade, ranging from clean fuels policies and vehicle standards to commercial vehicle and infrastructure incentives. His collaborative, communicative, research-based approach has supported numerous projects for city and state agencies, federal policymakers, and international coalitions. He has experience developing and presenting on webinars, writing reports and communications materials, and leading collaborative engagements to advance clean transportation outcomes.

Prior to joining WRI, Dan was a Senior Project Manager at clean transportation non-profit CALSTART, where he also took on the role of managing the organization’s publications processes and outputs. His work included international collaborations, such conducting synthetic research for the International ZEV Alliance, the International Energy Agency, and the Clean Energy Ministerial’s EV Initative through the Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero campaign. He worked closely with state agencies in California and New York to develop the research and mechanisms for incentives designed to energize the zero-emission commercial vehicle sector, and with major U.S. cities to support zero-emission freight adoption and residential EV infrastructure installations. Dan came to CALSTART from the DC-based think-tank Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), where he managed a broad portfolio of transportation topics, and from the Pace Energy and Climate Center outside of New York City. He returns to WRI after a 2010 summer internship that characterized ecosystem services considerations for developers and decision-makers in Kenya.

Dan earned a master’s degree in Public Administration with a focus on environmental management from the University of Washington, a bachelor’s degree in history and French from Connecticut College, and an advanced open water SCUBA certification.

He lives in Los Angeles, where he manages an intricate system of charging his EV for trips where public transit is not available.
